In the beginning ...
It seems that many great stories begin in this fashion, so why not my story?
Many people will look at this statement and tell themselves that they also have a story to tell and, they are right, every person has their great beginnings story, so let me share mine...
About 4 years ago I began a "late in life" journey that immersed me in a new world called running. The journey really started with me trying to embrace my husband's own love of running so I didn't feel left out. I never really was left out, just felt like it. I began relatively small in my distances by taking on clinics to learn about how to run 5k's and finally all the way up to a full Marathon distance in spring of 2015. I began spreading my wings even further by taking on a Gran Fondo bike race and finally completing my first Olympic distance Triathlon. It was quite the accomplishment and definitely was not on my radar 4 years ago! As my running journey kept my busy on the road, I began to also experience trail races (6 - 7km distances) and I LOVED IT!!!! I was feeling the trail siren calling more frequently and more intensively when I decided I would embark on another great adventure and a longer distance on the trail, when I decided to sign up to be part of a relay team and tackled a 14km leg of the Grizzly Ultra 50k event during the Thanksgiving weekend here. It was such a blast that I made a promise to myself that I would conquer that same race SOLO the next year. I stayed true to my promise and as soon as registration opened, I immediately registered with absolutely no hint of regret or trepidation.
That has now brought me on a new venture ... training for trail races only this year with my two larger races being the Broken Goat 25k and the Grizzly Ultra 50k, with a few 5 Peaks trail races sprinkled in over the summer. I am definitely going to be busy getting myself ready.
This is why I've started this blog ... as I share my stories and adventures while training along with some product reviews of things I use on the trail/road to engage to hopefully help you along the way and provide some inspiring stories that you may also have!
Happy Trails Everyone!
